The Christ the King parish of Sojong was inaugurated on 11th January 1967 with Fr. John Mariae as the first Parish Priest and Mr. Silvester Teron as the first Catechist.  On 15th January of the same year, the old school, started by Fr. M. Balawan, was converted into English medium and named ‘Don Bosco School’This was the first parish opened in Karbi Anglong. Fr. John Mariae, together with his team worked tirelessly to bring up this parish. In the year 1971, Fr. John Marie was transferred to Diphu. And from then on the Salesian fathers are looking after this parish. Today this parish has the biggest catholic population in the Diocese. The parish also has produced number of local vocations and they are working in different parts of Northeast India and other parts.
