St. Peter’s Parish was began in the year 2003. Fr. Thomas Mangalassery was the first Parish Priest.  He toiled very hard to bring up this centre. Realizing the need of the time he started St. Peter’s school in the same year. The Catholic mission in Silonijan is a promising and flourishing mission. It has a total Catholic population of 2145. The major tribes residing in this area are the Karbis, the Adivasisis, the Neplais, the Syiams and Rengma Nagas. With the establishment Catholic mission, Silonijan is on the road to progress. The Venerini Sisters joined the mission in the year 2006.
